A bit about me: Growing in a dance studio, I began teaching dance at age 15 (it’s been a while), and with a few pauses, have been teaching many forms of movement (or stillness, as the case may be) to students of all ages ever since…
After graduating from UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and while pursuing an acting career, I stumbled across yoga. (Easy to do in LA, even 25 years ago!) As with many creative endeavors, effort was high, rejection was constant, and pay was low, so I decided go to law school. What? Yes :) And it was during law school, that I began to experience debilitating migraines most days of the week, and no amount of Excedrin did the trick. I began a very simple and daily home practice. Quite simply, yoga and mindfulness became paramount to my health.
After passing the California Bar, and working for a few years, I headed to my first yoga teacher training program at Kripalu. The teachers, the other students, the consistent practice, the humbling experience of trying staying present, was life-changing, and soon thereafter, I co-founded and ran East West Yoga in Cupertino, CA.
After almost a decade of building an amazing community with East West Yoga, the combination of Covid restrictions and distance learning with three young boys, forced our closure. For many reasons, it was a sad time, so I am extremely grateful to be teaching once again.
In my classes and individual sessions, my priority is to meet people where they are, and from that specific place, help them to incorporate yoga, pranayama, meditation, pilates, and/or maybe a bit of creative movement (as needed), to either begin, return to, or continue on a path of well-being.
With over 500 hours of teacher training, my most influential teachers/organizations are:
Kripalu; Judith Hanson Lasater, PhD, Sarah Powers, Maty Ezraty, Erich Schiffmann, Seane Corn, Annie Carpenter, Jason Crandell, Setareh Moafi, PhD, AnnaLena Thilderkvist, PhD, and It’s Yoga Kids, to name a few.
Areas of specialization:
Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Flow Yoga, Yoga & Pilates combinations, breath work and meditation practices, yoga for kids of all ages, and beginner’s yoga.
Also a practicing estate planning attorney, I am lucky to work with an amazing group of people at Hales & George.
